“I was laid off as the result of the acquisition of my employer. I was referred to JAM by my neighbor and member of TCABC.
Although my time was short in the job hunt (3 weeks) I feel that I was given a great opportunity to not only get back in touch with God but to get to know the people volunteering with JAM.”

“In July, I was attending Battlecreek and was between jobs. I found out about JAM and decided to attend one of the scheduled meetings. I haven’t been unemployed in a long time and didn’t know how to approach the changing job market. I ultimately attended three of the breakout sessions and received great insight in presenting my resume, networking job opportunities, and preparing for an interview. I was reminded by one of the volunteers that this process is a journey of getting with God to see what He wants to accomplish. I was also reminded of the importance of networking and the fact that you never know who might connect you to a job opportunity. In my case, I was in need of some chiropractic care and my wife recommended a doctor that I should contact. I shared my story of needing a job, and because he serves as a volunteer at John 3:16 Mission, he was aware of a job opening there. These conversations lead to an initial interview. Valuing the need for prayer, I requested friends, family, and the TCABC Staff to join me in prayer. I was offered and accepted an accounting position at the mission. God has provided not only a job, but an opportunity to do ministry. Through this journey God has shown me the value of prayer, the value of ministry in the church, and the value of friendship. So, if you need assistance in find a job, I highly recommend JAM.
TODD
I came to JAM with the expectation of finding employment. My expectations were fulfilled. One thing that I credit JAM with is teaching me to network.
Normally, I would not network , after all, I didn’t need anyone’s help finding a job. I never had a problem finding work on my own. So why network?
The first thing that JAM taught me was to invite God into my job search. Which I did, after I abandoned my pride and utilized the concept of networking. A JAM volunteer stated that it would be the least likely person you would think of, but someone else would find you a job. He was correct, networking with God’s help does work .I am sure that if I ever start looking again for employment, I will use the same technique.
1. Invite God 2. Abandon pride 3. Network! Network! Network!
SHERRI
We are new to church at Battle Creek. Leaving our previous church of 10 years was a painful decision but was something God lead us to do. After our first visit to the church, my husband was laid off from his company. This was devasting news. The following week, we saw the JAM flyers and my husband logged onto the website and began going through all of the companies you have listed to see if they had any openings for an electrician.
That is where he came across this position with the City of Tulsa. We would never have thought on our own that the city would be hiring. He began the interviewing process and was offered a position yesterday.
I would like to thank you and all those who give their time to make this church such a wonderful place. The dedication of its members is refreshing and a wonderful representation of the body of Christ.
I truly believe God brought us to this church for a reason. We found a community group that we really like and it is literally less than 1 mile from our house!
Thanks again for all you do.
STAY AT HOME MOM
I was a stay at home mom for several years and recently returned to the work place. I was nervous about my job skills being rusty and terrified at the thought of interviewing. JAM showed me that by involving God in my job search that he would open doors, guide me and encourage me.
